This is the capital city’s biggest festival and attracts the largest audience. The festival was introduced in 1670 by the 4th Temporal Ruler, Tenzin Rabgye. Filled with grand mask dances, songs, and ceremonies, it celebrates and honours Guru Rinpoche, the Saint who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan. It is also the time when the locals dress in their finest traditional attire.
